Fit for Good is an initiative of Australian Fitness Network, a professional association with a membership base of over 10,000 fitness professionals. Australian Fitness Network is the leading source of information, education and events for people working within the fitness industry in Australia.
In late 2010, Lisa Champion, a director of Australian Fitness Network, came up with the idea of creating a charity organisation for the fitness industry. The goal of Fit for Good is twofold – to encourage the fitness industry to reach out to Australians in need with the passion, energy and enthusiasm for health and fitness that is their trademark, and to inspire community service organisations to embrace the power of exercise as a means by which people with mental health problems, drug and alcohol addictions, depression and anxiety can feel healthier and better about themselves.
Lisa approached CAF in early 2011 wanting assistance on the best practice establishment of a funding vehicle to efficiently and securely collect and distribute donations to and from Fit for Good. “I simply couldn’t believe how easy CAF’s Foundation Account service works; they do all the hard work around accounting and reporting, so I can focus on raising funds and securing volunteers and in-kind donations for those that need it most.”
Fit for Good’s launch partner is Mission Australia, with donations raised granted by CAF to Mission Australia.
