Case Study

Shaw Family Foundation

Reaching retirement age, Allan Shaw and his wife wanted to give something back to the community. The focus of their foundation is to help children who are experiencing disadvantage particularly through illness.

Allan realised he did not have the resources nor did he want to undertake all the work associated with investing to generate income for the fund, and complying with the various tax and legal issues.

Allan held his first meeting with CAF in 2002 and found that CAF offered the services he and his wife needed. CAF ensures their endowment fund is properly invested by experts to generate income. CAF manages all the legal, taxation and administrative requirements. CAF validates and donates funds to the charities that his family want to support.

Allan and his family keep an eye on their social investments through regular CAF transactional and financial reporting. According to Allan, “We have the peace of mind that our wishes are being carried out in a professional manner”.

“Nine years into our relationship with CAF and everything has gone exactly as we hoped. The charities we support contact me directly and we have visited them all on several occasions. It is a great feeling to be able to see that we have made a small difference to some families.”

One of the ongoing pleasant surprises for Allan and his wife is just how much money they have been able to donate from their foundation, and the impact they have had on some of the most precious members of society - children.
