Reinvestment Fund for community organisations

Feb 2006

Charities Aid Foundation is delighted to announce the establishment of the Investors in Community (IIC) Community Reinvestment Fund.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide specialist banking services and financial capability to assist with reinvesting in parts of the community sector that do not always have direct access to traditional bank finance.

The Community Reinvestment Fund will provide affordable loans to community organisations to enable them to eventually leverage additional funding from more traditional sources.

We are particularly pleased that MECU have agreed to partner CAF in this initiative which will begin to address the special needs of so many community organisations.

Often, with community organisations, income fails to keep pace with inflation and with grants becoming more targeted, organisations that want to become more sustainable need to consider loans as part of an appropriate funding mix.

Our experience with similar funds in the UK and Europe gives us encouragement to believe that the Investors in Community (IIC) Community Reinvestment Fund will meet a growing demand from innovative community organisations in Australia.

Interested community organisations should contact CAF on 02 9929 9633.
