    Background

    Cutting Edge Post is a privately owned Queensland company that provides marketing, advertising and post production services to state and national clients. It has a combined workforce of 90 people comprised of 50 full time staff and 40 contractors.

    A staff member became aware of Payroll Giving after contributing to Amnesty International via a credit card and was seeking a more sustainable way of contributing. After approaching the Directors and being given their support to introduce the program into Cutting Edge this staff member drafted a marketing plan to get as many employees as possible on board.

    Objective

    To introduce an environment of philanthropy within the organisation that emphasised staff participation and personal reward.

    Strategy
    • Initial email to all staff about general philanthropy.
    • Identify employees currently supporting their community.
    • Personal letter from Directors endorsing the program and encouraging staff to take part.
    • Identify key staff (Staff Champions) - spoke individually to them about the benefits of Payroll Giving.
    • Personalised the message to individuals taking the light-hearted approach.
    • Director emailed all employees his personal story about giving and how it made him feel good to be making a difference.
    • Reply to all questions in a positive way.
    • Write to part time employees and contractors advising them of the initial success of the program, inviting them to take part.
    • Director to write to staff regarding Pre-tax announcement. Personal approach to current donors offering them the option to switch to Pre-tax and raise their donation.
    • Approach to Directors to match Christmas donations.
    • Announce company 'Christmas' matching and encourage employees to increase donations or commence contributing.
      Encourage the company to continue matching funds.
    Results

    Cutting Edge Post had approximately 20% participation rate from full time staff.

    • Cutting Edge Post adopted the program as part of their core beliefs
    • The internal 'driver' was totally committed to the best outcome and ensure the success of the program within Cutting Edge Post

    • Employees trusted internal contact as he is a well respected member of their staff and has a reputation as contributing to his community
