New Foundation Account - Intrepid Travel
| Name of Entity |
Intrepid Travel |
| Background |
- Intrepid Travel is a niche market Australian travel organisation specialising in non-intrusive adventure holidays to SE Asia. As part of its strategic planning the company decided to establish a foundation account with the primary purpose of making grants to community organisations operating in the region where their tours operate.
- CAF was one of two organisations approached to operate the foundation account and succeeded based on its ability to also operate a foundation account out of NZ and the UK.
- A foundation account has been established as an account of the CAF Community Fund to which tax deductible donations can be made, and from these donation grants are made to Australian charities who conduct programs in the local regions which Intrepid Travel visit.
- A second non tax deductible fund is administered by CAF Australia and is used to make grants to SE Asian community organisations.
- Members of the public, and in particular those engaging in Intrepid's tours, are invited to donate to the foundation account or fund.
|
| Goals |
- To build up a substantial donation pool through a commitment to donate a percentage of company profits to the account
- To offer its customers the option to donate to the foundation account, and
- To make a constructive difference to the local communities in which they operate their services.
|
| Key Messages |
- A mix of both endowment foundation account and a separate fund from which grants are ongoing
- Grants made to Intrepid's preferred community organisations , and
- Supports local and SE Asian community groups.
