Payroll Giving Information for CompaniesCompanies - Workplace Giving

Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Workplace Payroll Giving programs allow employees the opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on the work of their preferred not-for-profit organisations through a direct tax deductible donation from their pre-tax pay.

A leader in this field, CAF provides streamlined accounting, distribution and reporting using a single employer payroll code and exclusive software which allows donors to nominate their preferred charity (DGR).

This system of giving provides a wide range of benefits to the employer, employees and the recipient not-for-profit organisations.

Charities Aid Foundation can assist you in the implementation and development of Payroll Giving in the workplace and maintain all back-office administration to minimise costs and to provide monthly grants to charities.

Employer Benefits

  • Complete donor preference - any charity (DGR) in Australia
  • Ability to also include charity focus
  • Demonstrates commitment to supporting the community
  • Enhances corporate reputation
  • Builds employee morale and loyalty
  • Employee attraction and retention
  • Cost effective method of giving
  • Simple streamlined administration (only one code in payroll system)
  • Flexible employer involvement
  • Pre-tax or post-tax deductions
  • Tax deductible corporate matching options

A company has 2500 employees. 10% of employees each donate an average $7 from their weekly pay. Collectively, that's $7000 per month and $84,000 over a year… and that's before any matching from the employer.

Workplace Payroll Giving Achievements

Charities Aid Foundation has an impressive local and international record in bringing the corporate and community sectors together for mutual benefit. This efficient donating on a regular basis has increasingly been strengthened through Matched Giving - where employers 'match' the donations, fundraising efforts and volunteer time of their employees.

Over the past 7 years (to June 08) CAF Australia has facilitated grants of almost AU$26 million through generous workplace giving donations.

We are working with more than 300 employers including; Macquarie Bank, Freehills, Qantas, Foster’s Group, Virgin, Kraft Foods, Vodafone, Dimension Data, Pfizer, Holden, Sun Microsystems, BP, Bloomberg, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, McDonald's, Unilever, Bendigo Bank, Commonwealth Treasury, Sydney Water, Railcorp, Rural Fire Service, Gold Coast City Council, Victorian Dept of Premier and Cabinet and many more.

More than 900 not-for-profit (DGR) organisations are currently recipients of the program (Jan 09). Funds are granted based on donor preference, which means that when an employee nominates a charity the necessary validation checks are carried out and then funds are distributed monthly by CAF.

The Macquarie Group Foundation has contributed financial support toward the expansion of CAF Workplace Giving Programs over a 3 year period.
